Organizational Context and Scope
Under overall supervision of the Regional Director, and in close coordination with the relevant units at RO Pretoria, the successful candidate will be IOM’s main interlocutor with the Government of Swaziland (GOS). S/he will be responsible for promoting, developing and implementing the full range of IOM services in Swaziland.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1.In close coordination and under the guidance of the Regional Director, establish and maintain close institutional and working relationships with governmental authorities, donors, international organizations, nongovernmental organizations and other partners as well as the media, in order to improve and expand IOM’s range of services in Swaziland,
2.Supervise programme implementation and Office Staff within the Office in the areas of migration health, facilitated migration, counter-trafficking, labour migration, migration and development, diaspora mobilization, and migration and the environment, in Swaziland; including financial and activity monitoring of the projects against their intended targets.
3. Ensure compliance on IOM administrative and financial regulations and established procedures, including but not limited to: preparation of annual budget for the Office, budget control processes, human resources (HR) functions, procurement and logistics services, contracts with suppliers of goods and services, payroll.
4.Represent IOM in relevant fora led by GOS, relevant UN working and coordination groups, meetings, conferences, and seminars as necessary,
5.Monitor migration trends within, from, and to Swaziland; identify, suggest and participate in the development of new programmes - in close cooperation with the Regional Office, GOS, UN Agencies and other relevant partners.
6.Support Resource Mobilization efforts in coordination with Regional Office in Pretoria.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in Social or Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
University degree in the above fields with four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
University Diploma in the above fields with eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
Knowledge of SiSwati
